Our Vision
We want to create a world where individuals and teams can realize their vision for healthier communities. We believe change must be sustainable, long-lasting, and equitable.
Our Mission
To advance health and equity by increasing the capacity of individuals and teams to transcend boundaries, work collaboratively, and transform their communities.
Our Story
PHI Center for Health Leadership & Impact (CHLI) began in 1991 in response to a need for public health leadership. The Center’s first program, the National Public Health Leadership Institute, trained senior leaders at the local, state, and national level on cutting-edge public health practices and leadership trends.
The Center has expanded its expertise and reach over thirty years, evolving to address the complex, intersectional health challenges that require collaboration with diverse stakeholders. Our processes and tools help teams and individuals build healthy, more equitable communities by developing multi-sector partnerships and leveraging local resources.
To date, the Center has worked with individuals and teams from 53 states and territories, supporting work on the most pressing health challenges of our time, including overdose prevention, affordable housing, HIV prevention, and violence prevention.
PHI Center for Health Leadership & Impact is a program of the Public Health Institute (PHI), a globally recognized nonprofit.
PHI promotes health, well-being, and quality of life for people throughout California, across the nation, and around the world.
