Archi Singh, National Leadership Academy for the Public’s Health
Archi Singh is an AmeriCorps VISTA serving with the Leadership Academy for the Public’s Health (LAPH), a year-long leadership development program for professionals tackling public health issues in communities around the country.
Since 2011, LAPH has worked with hundreds of leaders and has built an extensive network of LAPH alumni. One of Archi’s largest VISTA projects was to connect with alumni and put together success stories to convey the impact of the LAPH program.
Archi helped implement the Leadership Learning Network Portal, a website specifically for LAPH alumni. This website features alumni-only webinars, a LinkedIn community, and opportunities to share alumni impact stories. To supplement the portal’s launch, Archi also sends weekly personalized emails to LAPH alumni, encouraging them to engage with the portal.
Through these avenues, many LAPH alumni have shared post-program accomplishments. Their stories demonstrate incredible progress towards achieving health equity in their communities, and many have used the skills and abilities acquired during LAPH in their continued work.
Archi built a list of over 30 impact stories that reflect the importance of LAPH. An example of an amazing success is the redistribution of land in Multnomah County, where the Future Generation Collaborative worked with a group of Presbyterian ministers, neighborhood associations, and the county to transfer ownership of land to Native families previously harmed by the churches.
For Archi, it is inspiring to hear how LAPH builds a lasting capacity for public health change. Years after they have participated in the program, alumni continue to make strides towards health equity and racial justice. She feels grateful to be supporting this program and its mission.
Archi finished her service in April 2023 and is now enrolled in medical school at Tufts School of Medicine.
