Welcome

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. This month focuses on mental health as a vital component of our health, well-being, and overall quality of life. The purpose of Mental Health Awareness Month is to raise awareness, educate, and reduce stigma surrounding mental health.

As AmeriCorps members, part of our work involves reducing harmful stigmas and building healthy communities. As VISTA leads, we understand that you all work hard and are extremely committed to your projects and the communities you serve. But let this also serve as a reminder to take care of your own mental health.

One of Anthony's favorite ways to manage his mental health is to walk outside in the warm weather while listening to his favorite music. Take a moment to reflect on what helps you feel grounded and recharged. This could be spending time outdoors, connecting with loved ones, or engaging in a hobby, and allowing yourself time to rest. Reflecting on what supports you can help you build routines that maintain your mental health.

We encourage you to engage with the resources, events, and free Telehealth services available to you. Also, reach out to your VISTA Leads, who are here to support you throughout service!

Yours in service,
