Welcome
As summer heats up, it offers many opportunities to explore the intersections of food, community, and public health. From farmers' markets to local gatherings, food offers a unique perspective to understanding social determinants of health, access, and community care. Read below for events and resources focusing on the intersection of food and community health.
This month brings two valuable and required learning opportunities for your service. Lia Randazzo will be hosting the July Monthly Learning Network on the 10 Pillars of Public Health. Karlene Kuhn will be hosting the Professional Development Track with practical advice for making the most of your Segal Education Award after service. These trainings provide a valuable opportunity for you to connect with your VISTA network, explore broad public health themes, and start planning for your post-service steps.
Remember, your VISTA Leads are here to help - reach out anytime you need support.

Monthly Learning Networks (MLNs)
Monthly Learning Networks (MLNs) are professional development webinars designed for service members. These occur on the third Wednesday of the month at 11:30 am PST. Members are required to attend all MLNs. Please ensure your supervisors know you must attend these sessions as a required part of your service.
Coffee Breaks
Coffee Breaks are optional virtual meetings for AmeriCorps VISTA members to hang out, connect, and chat with others and the Leads.
VISTA Professional Development Series
The VISTA Professional Development Series is CHLI’s newest offering for AmeriCorps VISTA members. These hands-on, informal professional development sessions focus on small group conversations to help you navigate career and academic opportunities. Topics will include resume writing, interview skills, funding your education, and more. Members are required to attend three sessions during their year of service. Members may select which sessions to attend and are encouraged to attend any session that is relevant to their future goals.
Quarterly Check-ins
Members are scheduled for check-in calls with their Leads every three months. Your Leads will contact you during your scheduled month to arrange a time for a 30-minute call. These check-ins are a required part of your service.
Professional Development
Slides and recordings for each item will be posted after the event. Please check back for the latest content.
